I can't launch VOCALOID2. Getting an error message: "CANNOT OPEN DATABASE!"

Below are the possible causes of this error message:

  • VoiceDB is not installed.
  • ExpressionDB is not installed.
  • There is no "dbm2.dll" file in the folder where VOCALOID2 software was installed.

Please try the following steps:

  1. At the Setup Selection window of the Installation wizard, select [Custom], and click NEXT.
  2. Clear the check boxes for "VOCALOID2 Voice DB" and "VOCALOID2 Expression DB", and click NEXT.
  3. Follow the rest of instructions and FINISH the installation.
  4. Launch the installer again. At the Setup Selection window of the Installation wizard, select [Custom], and click NEXT.
  5. This time, clear the check boxes except for "VOCALOID2 Voice DB" and "VOCALOID2 Expression DB", and click NEXT.
  6. Follow the rest of instructions and FINISH the installation.
