Upright Piano YU3' by Kryptic Samples is a piano Reason Refill recorded with Yamaha U3 Upright Piano and split in 28 royalty-free patches for Combinator delivering over 1000 WAV samples.

The Yamaha U3 upright piano provides power, precision and playing comfort that has been recognized for decades. Its metallic sound is highly appreciated by contemporary pianists and it is the most widely used piano, especially because it can plays all types of music.

Sound recording:

In order to optimise the audio quality of this Reason Refill, each of the 88 notes was recorded with three velocity levels: Soft, Medium and Hard with three microphones to faithfully reproduce the sound of the piano.

Microphones used:

Two Neumann KM184 condenser microphones, offering finesse and accuracy positioned in A-B configuration to obtain a wide and ethereal stereophonic soundscape. And a Warm Audio WA-47 large-diaphragm condenser microphone, positioned at the back of the piano allows to capture the ambient sound and to give depth and equipped with a tube preamp, it slightly colours the sound making it warmer.

In addition to the original piano recordings, post-processed samples with VHS and Audio Cassette Tape Recorder are included for authentic Lo-fi sounds.
