製品概要

「OLAFUR ARNALDS STRATUS」は、Olafur Arnaldsが所有する"ゴーストピアノ"と呼ばれる半自動演奏ピアノを再現する、Kontaktフォーマットピアノ音源です。

この"ゴーストピアノ"は、STRATUSと呼ばれるシステムによって複雑なポリリズムピアノ演奏を実現しており、ヤマハ製のアップライトピアノ「DU1E3」にフェルトダンピングを施したうえで搭載されています。

このフェルトピアノはColes 4038リボンマイクロフォンとビンテージのNeumann KM83コンデンサーマイクをクローズポジションとして、Milleniaプリアンプを通して精密にキャプチャーされています。

更に「OLAFUR ARNALDS STRATUS」では、Olafur氏所有のKorg PS-3100とRoland Juno-60シンセサイザーをサンプリングし、豊富な内蔵エフェクトとフェルトピアノ・電子楽器の組み合わせによってエモーショナルなテクスチャーサウンドを生み出します。

オーガニックでナチュラルなサウンド、単一のノートオンから生成されるリズミックなポリリズムパターンにより、コンポーザーのインスピレーションを刺激します。

OLAFUR ARNALDS

Olafur Arnaldsは、BAFTA（英国アカデミー賞）を受賞したアイスランドのレイキャビクに拠点を置く作曲家及びプロデューサーであり、オーガニックサウンドスケープとエレクトロニックサウンドスケープをブレンドしたユニークな音楽性で知られています。

音楽に対して熱心に実験を行い、革新を進めています。自身がピアニストでありながらも、近年のサウンドでは想像もつかないヘビーメタルドラマーであるといった一面を持ち、カスタムされたソフトウェアを使用して新たなアレンジを開発しています。サウンドと作曲に対する姿勢は新世代の音楽を生み、クリエイターに影響を与えています。

同氏は自動車事故による神経損傷によって左手を用いたピアノ演奏ができなくなるという経験があり、STRATUSシステムの生まれるきっかけとなりました。

プログラマーであるHalldor Eldjarnが2年の歳月をかけてこの半自動演奏技術を完成させ、Olafur Arnaldsはライブ演奏に取り入れました。

このSTRATUSは2018年にリリースされた同氏のアルバム「re:member」でも必要不可欠な役割を果たしています。
