"This month sees the release of veteran producer Si Begg's Distorted Dancefloors, which follows the recent trend for artist-produced sample packs. Whether remixing Leftfield, released his own tracks on labels Tresor, Novamute and Ninja Tune or writing music for film and TV, Si Begg has been at the cutting edge of electronic music for more than a decade.



The DVD is jam-packed with 1.9GB of 24-bit audio in ACIDized WAV, Apple Loops and REX2 formats, with corresponding sampler instruments covering every sample. The loops are divided into folders ranging from 90-140BPM, with further folders for extensive collection of basses, drums, hits, pads, soundscapes and vocal FX. The quality and variety is staggering, covering squelchy dubstep basses, glitchy electro hip hop beats, shattering techno synths and subtle minimal electronica clicks. Every loop features some touch of creative genius, be it in the processing, choice of sounds or the rhythm.
