「サンプリングCDでボーカルものとなると、数を数えるほどしかない。で、現在の傾向としては、女性シンガーの「オーイヤーベイビー」みたいのばかりで、はっきり言って品が無い。そんな中、この『ダイヤモンド･ボーカル』はひときわ新鮮な輝きを放っている。女性ボーカルはというと、セクシー系なボーカルはもちろん、ベス･ギボンズ系の切ないボーカルまで、様々なボーカル･スタイルがカバーされている。男性ボーカルも負けておらず、ファンク系からシャウトやラップ、人間リズムマシンやテクノなんかもある。しかし、このCDに一番の特徴は、エフェクト処理されたボーカルだ。ピッチシフト、ハーモナイズ、ボコーダー、ディストーション、ディレイ、リバーブなどなどを加えられたサンプルが、生フレーズと同じくらい大量に収録されている。

ボーカルものは、ボーカリストの質が最終的にモノを言うが、ここには才能溢れたボーカリストばかりが揃っている。ボイスをうまく取り入れられない、というクリエーターには、ぜひお勧めだ。」 "One of the most common remarks made of instrumental electronic music particularly by the layman listener, runs something like this: "Yeah, it`s good, but it needs something else. What about a vocal?" While it`s often safest to respond with "Oh you just don`t get it. That`s where Diamond Vocals comes in. Admittedly there are a few vocal sample CDs on the market, but with many of the comtempory styled discs the tendency is to over-cook the "Woah yeah baybehh" diva stuff, which has, let`s face it, been milked beyond decency. This CD is refreshingly different though. It`s loaded with female vocals and there are plenty that`ll sit comfortably in your Italo-house bra-buster, but Diamond Vocals also covers other vocal styles, even including some Beth Gibbons style laments. You`ll also find loads of male vocal samples, from funk lines to shouts and raps to human beatbox sounds and Teutonic techno soundbytes. One of the best features of this CD though is its creative use of effects on vocals, giving pitchshifted, harmonised, vocoded, distorted and delayed and reverbed samples as well as dry sounds.



Ultimately it`s the quality of the vocalists that counts, and you certainly won`t find a talent shortage here. An absolute must for the voiceless music-maker."
