Steinberg "Cubase LE" installation guide
To install "Cubase LE" that is included with our Virtual Singer products, follow the steps below.
* A "Download Access Code" will be used to register the product. To check your Download Access Code, go to your LICENSED PRODUCT Page, find the product that includes "Cubase LE", and click its "DL / LICENSE" or "Install Guide".
1. Creating a MySteinberg Account
*If you already have a MySteinberg account, please proceed to Step 2 to install Steinberg Download Assistant.
First, access this page.
Click "Create account" near the center of the screen.
Enter your email address, a password of your choice and your country, agree to the terms of service and privacy policy, and click [Next].
You will be taken to a screen to enter a verification code. Please check the inbox of the email address you entered. Enter the verification code found in the email and click [Next].
*If you have not received the email, please check if the confirmation email is in your spam folder and ensure that you have not set up your email to block emails from "@my.steinberg.net".
A screen will appear allowing you to choose whether to receive newsletters from Steinberg. Please click either [Confirm] or [No].
Clicking [Confirm] will send notifications about updates, licenses, and special offers to your registered email address. Clicking [No] will not subscribe you to the newsletter.
*Clicking either option will not affect the installation of "Cubase LE".
When a screen similar to this appears, your MySteinberg account creation is complete.
2. Installing Steinberg Download Assistant
*If Steinberg Download Assistant is already installed on your computer, please proceed to Step 3 to register your Download Access Code.
First, access this page and download the installer suitable for your OS (Windows or macOS / Mac).
Launch the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install Steinberg Download Assistant on your computer.
*Image shows an example for Windows.
3. Registering the Download Access Code
*Once you have registered your Download Access Code, you do not need to register it again. If you have already registered your Download Access Code, please proceed to Step 4 to install the product.
Launch Steinberg Download Assistant.
*After completing the installation in Step 2, if you click [OK] while the "Launch the Steinberg Download Assistant" checkbox is ticked, Steinberg Download Assistant will launch automatically.
On the first launch, a login button like this will be displayed. Please click [Login].
*If you check "Keep me logged in", you will not need to log in the next time you launch the application.
Your browser will open. Click "Open Steinberg Download Assistant.exe".
*If you logged out of MySteinberg before performing this step, you will be asked to enter your email address and password again. Enter the email address and password you used to create your MySteinberg account and click [Next] to display this screen.
When you have successfully logged into Steinberg Download Assistant, a screen like this will appear. Click [Redeem Code].
Enter the following Download Access Code in the input field and click [OK].
To check your Download Access Code, go to your LICENSED PRODUCT Page, find the product that includes "Cubase LE", and click its "DL / LICENSE" or "Install Guide".
If the code is successfully authenticated, the product will be added to your account. Click [OK].
*Regarding the software name displayed in Steinberg Download Assistant
The name "Cubase LE for Crypton" displayed when registering the Download Access Code indicates that it is the "Cubase LE" included with our product (this is different from the name of the software you will actually install).
After registration, when installing Cubase within Steinberg Download Assistant, please select "Cubase LE" from the "Purchased Products" tab on the left to download/install.
4. Downloading Cubase LE
Launch Steinberg Download Assistant and click on "Cubase LE" that you just added.
A list of downloadable software will be displayed.
Check the save destination at the top of the screen. If you want to change the save destination, click "..." on the right side of the save destination field, and specify the new destination.
*Usually, there is no need to change the save destination.
If you want to install all the software included in "Cubase LE", click [Install All]. If you want to install software individually, click [Install] for the desired software. For first-time users, we recommend clicking [Install All].
*When installing software individually, "Cubase (version number) - Application (required)" is the main software. If you intend to use "Cubase LE", please be sure to install it. Items marked "recommended" or "optional" are sound sources, plug-ins, effects, etc., for use within Cubase LE.
Installation is complete when the display next to the software name turns green as shown in the image.
Simply installing "Cubase LE" does not make it usable.
Please follow the steps below to activate (enable/authenticate) "Cubase LE".

5. Activating on Steinberg Activation Manager
When you installed Steinberg Download Assistant, Steinberg Activation Manager was also installed. This application is used to "activate" (enable/authenticate) Steinberg products on your computer.
*If you have already activated "Cubase LE", you can skip this step and use "Cubase LE".
For Windows: Launch "Steinberg Activation Manager" from the list of apps in the Start Menu.
If you cannot find "Steinberg Activation Manager" in the Start Menu, type "Steinberg Activation Manager" into the search box next to the Start Menu or within the Start Menu, and launch the app that appears in the search results.
For Mac: Launch "Steinberg Activation Manager" from "Finder" > "Applications".
When you launch Steinberg Activation Manager, a screen prompting you to log in will appear. Click [Login].
Your browser will open. Click "Open Steinberg Activation Manager".
*If you logged out of MySteinberg before performing this step, you will be asked to enter your email address and password again. Enter the email address and password you used to create your MySteinberg account and click [Next] to display this screen.
Once logged in, click the [Activate] button in the "Cubase LE" section.
If it displays "Active" and the button shows [Deactivate], activation is already complete. Please skip the above steps and proceed to the next step.
*Activation may take some time. In that case, please do not click the "Activate" button repeatedly and wait for the activation to complete.
Activation is complete when "Active" is displayed next to the product name and the [Activate] button changes to [Deactivate].
Select "Cubase (virsion)" or "Cubase LE AI Elements (virsion)" from the icon created on your desktop or from the list of apps to launch the application.
*The software name may vary depending on the version of "Cubase LE." First, search for the software whose name begins with "Cubase" in the list of applications and try launching it.
The installation of "Cubase LE" is now complete.
Please return to the "DL / LICENSE" or "Install Guide" pages for your Virtual Singer product from your LICENSED PRODUCT page.
